ELON - Mr. Henry Edward Apple, 77, of 3414 Kerr's Chapel Road, Elon, died at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at 10:35 p.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Frances Teague Apple, who survives, and the son of Richard Harris Apple and Ada Florence Minor Apple, both deceased. He retired from Burlington Industries as a master industrial mechanic and enjoyed working with his hands in his spare time. He attended Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, Eric Apple and wife, Tracy O'Shields Apple of Asheville; a daughter, Carrie Apple King and husband Danny of Elon; three grandchildren, Will, Candice and Christopher Apple; two great-grandchildren, Coey and Keenan Apple; and a sister, Eva Saintsing of Greensboro.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The funeral service will be conducted at Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Norman Harris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
