BURLINGTON - Mrs. Annie Oakley Brafford, 89, of 21 Brafford Lane, died at 10:00 AM on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Alamance Health Care following 14 years of declining health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late James W. Brafford, Sr., and the daughter of Walter K. Oakley and Ida Terrell Oakley, both deceased. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Caswell County Schools and attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ann Talley (Wallace) of Burlington, Shirley Sharpe (Keith) of Graham, Brenda Lee (Billy) of Emerald Isle, and Debra Stainback (Gary) of Burlington; one son, James W. Brafford, Jr. (Brenda) of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Ison of Danville, VA, and Grace Baker (Curry) of Burlington; and five brothers, Walter Oakley (Doris) of Danville, VA, Obie Oakley (Julia) of Caswell County, Thurman Oakley (Lois) of Burlington, Bill Oakley (Linda) of Burlington, and Bob Oakley (Betty) of Elon.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Tatum and Martha May; two brothers, James Oakley and Ernest Oakley; one granddaughter; and one grandson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church in Caswell County with Elder David Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church and at other times will be at the residence.
