Vernon was without a doubt one of the most joyful people I have ever known. We worked together for 11 years at Apollo Chemical and every day he was in the office was a day of laughter. I will miss his sweet blushing face. My prayers and sympathy to his beloved children.

Lee, Sarah, and Lori,
Your dad is one of the finest people I have ever known. He was kind, funny, and always willing to help in any way. Vern was pres. of the men's group and I am pres. of the ladies group at Macedonia so we spent lots of time cooking together, sharing recipes, and laughing at our mistakes. I will really miss my dear friend Vern.

Vernon knew many people and he touched their lives in so many positive ways. For the last 16 years,I knew him as my next door neighbor. We spent many evenings outside, talking about our landscaping, our families, the weather, sports, and our beloved Tar Heels. He was everything that anybody would ever want in a neighbor. My heart is truly aching right now because I have lost a friend. I will miss his hearty laugh, his big smile, and his gigantic heart. Cheryl and I send our deepest condolences to the family and know that he is smiling down on us all.
