Amaral, Ivo Magalhães "Ike"*  
Born March 26, 1930, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, passed away April 15, 2015, in Greensboro, NC. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School, Washington, DC, studied Aeronautical Engineering at Cal Aero Tech in Los Angeles, CA, worked at Missile Sites, Inc. and founded Amaral Contracting, Inc. Ivo was a past President of the National Association of Minority Contractors and a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors. He was Head Deacon of the Annapolis Seventh Day Adventist Church, retired to Gibsonville, North Carolina and is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Amaral; sister June Santos Smith; and children Lynn van Zyl, Deborah Amaral, and Craig Amaral; grandchildren Cynthia Cohen, Cathy Epps and Joseph Amaral, and great-grandchildren Emerson Cohen, Elliot Cohen, Willa Cohen, Jake Epps and Anne Grace Epps. His wish is to be donated to science.

Apple, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw*  
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw Apple, 85, of 1710 Greentree Road, was promoted to glory on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, following a brief illness. A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of 61 years to the late William Frank Apple Sr. and the daughter of Lacy Shaw and Sallie Aldridge Shaw, both deceased. She was a retired sales manager at Sears. Elizabeth was a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church where she was a faithful choir member. She was also a Hospice volunteer and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all with an engaging sense of humor. Survivors include four children, Bob Apple and wife Carolyn of Asheville, Connie Windham and husband Robert of Burlington, Steven Mark Apple and wife Leslie of Sandpoint, Idaho and Jonathan Apple and wife Wendy of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Lee Apple of Plano, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Elbert Shaw; and two sisters, Sue Huddleston and Alice Overman. She was preceded in death by a son, William F. Apple Jr.; and sister, Irene Abernathy. The funeral service will be conducted at Shallow Ford Christian Church on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends following the service at the church. A private burial will be held in Alamance Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Shallow Ford Christian Church, 1263 Shallowford Church Road, Elon, NC 27244. BURLINGTON - Mr. Everette Wendell "Divine" Cooper, of 1511 Bowman Avenue, died April 12, 2015 at his residence. He was the son of the late Mr. John Cooper and the late Mrs. Sarah Cooper and husband of Mrs. Peggy Carter Cooper of the home Survivors include two sons, Everette Carruthers Sr. of New Paltz, NY and Justin Travis of Poughkeepsie, NY; two daughters, Micole Cooper-Wade of Whitsett, NC and Angel Moore of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Reginald Cooper of Greensboro, NC and Joshua Cooper of Newburgh, NY; three sisters, Gretchen Cooper-Mills of Greensboro, NC, Pearlene Cooper, and Karyna James both of Fayetteville, NC; 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joshlyn Cooper. He was a Production worker for Budweiser in Goldsboro, NC until 2007. He was studying to become a Jehovah's Witness. He loved music and loved spending time with family. He also loved yard work and loved to travel. The funeral will be Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday, April 18, 2015, one hour prior to the service with the family arriving at 1:30 p.m. for family visitation. Public viewing will be Friday, April 17, 2015, from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel and at other times, the family will receive friends at 1511 Bowman Avenue, Burlington, NC 27217. Services entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington, NC.

Frazier, Delbert H. "Del"*  
SOUTHPORT - Mr. Delbert H. "Del" Frazier, 82, of 4829 Southgate Estates, SE, Southport, NC died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 8:23 p.m. He was the son of Walter Lee Frazier and Mattie Ruth Gooch Frazier, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a retired sheetrock contractor. Del was an avid fisherman and golfer. Survivors include two sons, Greg Frazier and wife Laurie of Graham and Kirk Frazier and wife Janet of Burlington; brother, Harley Frazier of Oak Island; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, 2502 South NC 119, Mebane, NC 27302. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and the staff at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields for the special care and support given to Del. Mitchell, Robert D. "Bob"*  
ELON - Mr. Robert D. "Bob" Mitchell, 77, of 1522 NC 87 North, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Hospice Home in Burlington, following a brief acute illness and years of declining health. Prior to his recent move to Elon, he and his wife, Anne, enjoyed 38 years living in Larkspur, Colo. A native of Bassett, Va., Mr. Mitchell was the husband for 55 years of Anne Lane Mitchell, who survives, and the son of the late John Calvin Mitchell and the late Elizabeth Moran Mitchell Mays. Mr. Mitchell received both his undergraduate and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. He taught there for five years and had many fond memories of his time as a Hokie. Mr. Mitchell was a retired consulting engineer. In addition, he worked closely with the 4-H of Colorado and personally developed software used throughout the U.S. for livestock judging. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, collecting guns, history, and watching his beloved Colorado Rockies. In addition to his wife, Anne, of the home, Mr. Mitchell is survived by two sons, Dave Mitchell of N. Hollywood, Calif. and Brian Mitchell and wife Laura of Elon; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan and Ruthanne Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell also leaves behind his much loved and adored companion dog, Louie. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Trinity Worship Center from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Officiating will be the Rev. Roger Barefoot. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 19, at 3 p.m. in the Mt. Hermon Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Bassett, Va., with the Rev. Moorefield, Benny Lewis*  
BURLINGTON - Benny Lewis Moorefield, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after many months of illness on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at ARMC surrounded by his family. Benny was born in Rockingham County, March 1, 1944, to the late Willis Denton Moorefield and Louise Justice Moorefield. He was the husband of 48 years to Patricia "Pat" Senter Moorefield, who survives. Benny retired from A.D. Pate Printing after over 25 years of service. He was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan and NASCAR fan. Benny was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him. Benny enjoyed his family beach house at Myrtle Beach for over 40 years, creating many cherished memories for his family and friends. Benny is survived by his wife, Pat Moorefield, of the home; son, Shannon Moorefield and wife Kari of Burlington; stepgrandsons, Trey and Drake Andrews; great-stepgrandson, Hudson Andrews; sister, Betty Thompson and husband Robbie of Burlington; and a brother, the Rev. Donnie Moorefield of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents. A service to celebrate his life will be conducted Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Craig Cox. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence and at the home of his sister, Betty Thompson.
