MEBANE - Mr. Robert James "Robbie" Bowling, 50, of 3815 Long Meadow Lane, died suddenly Thursday, May 21, 2015. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Rhonda Quakenbush Bowling, who survives, and the son of Robert Neal Bowling and wife Becky and Delores "Sandy" Hicks Ray and husband Kerry D., all who survive. He was an Inspector with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau. Robbie attended Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two brothers, Kerry D. Ray II of Apex and Allen R. Smith of Idabel, Okla.; sister, Windy Young of Graham; brother-in-law, Jeff Quakenbush of Eden; six nieces, Crystal, Chloe, Madison, Alexis, Blakely and Russia; nephew, Connor; and two great-nephews, Dawson and Michael. The funeral service will be conducted at Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Tracy Clayton and the Rev. John Woodard. Burial will follow in Phillips Chapel UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence. Bumgarner, Peggy Mae Church*  
MEBANE - Peggy Mae Church Bumgarner, 89, of Mebane died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. A native of Wilkes County, she was retired from Dixie Yarns, a member of the Mebane Wesleyan Church and the Zion Hill Pentecostal Church in Wilkesboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ruby Mae Cole Church; sister, Pearl Osborn and brothers, Lonnie Church and Ernest Church. She is survived by her husband, W. Paul Bumgarner of the home; daughter, Darlene Waddell of Millers Creek; sons; Kenneth P. Bumgarner of the home and Gary W. Bumgarner and wife Donna of Mebane; sisters, Stella (Ted) Denning and husband Sherrill of Garner, Grace Wadkins of Stocton, GA, Edna Wood and husband Allen of Millers Creek and Geraldine (Jerri) Blackburn and husband Danny of Concord; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26 at 4 p.m. at Zion Hill Pentecostal Church in Wilkesboro by Kevin Blackburn and the Rev. James Tallent with burial following in the church cemetery. Carroll, Daisy Kelly*  
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Daisy Kelly Carroll, 95, of Burlington, died on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Hospice Home in Burlington after a brief illness. A native of Harnett County, NC, she was the wife of the late Richard Ervin Carroll and the daughter of Henry Abner Kelly and Sally Gertrude Cox Kelly, both deceased. She retired from Monarch Hosiery Mill after 30 years of service. Survivors include three children, Dorothy Carroll Hamilton and husband Lowell of Brevard, NC, Barbara Carroll Blalock and husband Julian of Sophia, NC, and Peggy Carroll Moran and husband Nolan of Burlington; six grandchildren, Teresa Koch (Paul), David Blalock (Sharon), Alan Blalock (Melissa), Phil Blalock (Shannon), Sherry Caskey (Greg), and Carroll Gennings (John); 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister in law, Irene Carroll of Winston-Salem. She was predeceased by nine siblings and one granddaughter, Beverly Hamilton. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington with the Rev. Carolyn Burrus officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park. WINSTON-SALEM - Doris Jean Furr Craven, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Ellerbe Town Cemetery, Ellerbe, NC with the Rev. Charles Spomer officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Doris was born in Moore County on August 23, 1934, to Reid and Grace Greene Furr. She was a homemaker and a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Earl Craven. Surviving are sons, Bruce Craven (Lois) of Star, NC, David Craven (Cheryl) of Greer, SC, Mark Craven (fiancee Robin) of Burlington; a daughter, Earlene Riddick (Marvin) of Winston-Salem; one brother, Daniel Furr of Vass, NC; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Glosson, John "David"*  
ELI WHITNEY - Mr. John "David" Glosson, 50, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, May 25, 2015, at 6:16 p.m. following a brief illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Lisa Smith Glosson, who survives, and the son of John Worth Glosson, who survives, and the late Arlene Bradley Glosson. He was a retired volunteer fireman at Eli Whitney Fire Department and a local farmer. He was a member and grew up serving in the 4-H Club and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. David was also a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church In addition to his wife of the home and father of Graham, he is survived by a sister, Doris Glosson Caldwell, of Burlington. The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5043 Mount Olive Church Road, Pittsboro, NC 27312 on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 3 p.m. by Rev. David Crowther. The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence. MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Newman Banks McDade, 64, passed away, May 25, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. He was born June 25, 1950, in Alamance County, N.C., to the late Millard Banks McDade and Margaret Lucille Cox McDade. Newman was the owner of the residential construction company, McDade Construction Inc. Survivors include his wife, Judy McDade; sons, Newman Banks McDade II and wife Cindy of Burlington, N.C. and Downing Cox McDade of Redding, Calif.; and brother, Michael McDade of Youngsville, N.C. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sammy Pierce officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will be private. BURLINGTON - William Odell Paul of 1114 Shaw Street, died May 22, 2015 at Kindred Hospital. He was son of the late Mr. Charlie Paul and the late Georgia Allen Paul and was formerly married to Ms. Annette Graves and to this union five children were born. He is survived by six daughters, Yvette Hurdle (Tony) of Greensboro, Gwendolyn Singleton (Moses) of High Point, Kristie Rodriguez (Sergio) of Greensboro, Clarissa Paul (fiancé Kenneth) of Burlington, Carolyn Paul of Durham and Justice Paul of Burlington; one brother, Charlie Paul of Maryland; three sisters, Gaynell Breeze (Thurmond ) of Elon, Myrtle Harrelson of Graham, and Barbara Anne Goins of Burlington, 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynette Paul; three brothers, James Paul, Rudy Paul, and Joe Louis Paul, and one sister, Shirley Paul. He loved to fish, as well as gardening and hunting. He also enjoyed taking care of his family. He could often be found helping and assisting others whenever they needed him. The funeral will be Thursday, May, 28, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family will arrive at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. There will also be a wake on Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. Services entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home.

RAMSEUR - Grover Cleveland Burgess, Jr., 77, of 7306 Burgess Kivett Rd., Ramseur, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his residence. Graveside Services, 3 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Kildee Wesleyan Church, Ramseur, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Officiating, Rev. Jimmy Hill. A beloved father and grandfather, G.C. was a native of Randolph County, a veteran of the National Guard, and a member of the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Burlington, where he lived for many years. During his working career, he worked until retirement with Carolina Telephone Company and later with Lynch Communication. He ended his Career with Northern Telecom and left to persue his favorite job of all, the love of his life, farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Sr., and Lola Macon Burgess, his brothers, Franklin Burgess, Boyd Burgess, and sister Blanche Burgess Mitchum. Survivors: daughter, Ginger Burgess Rhoads, and husband Scott, of Graham, son, Ray Burgess, of Huntington Beach, CA, sisters, Clarice Chriscoe, and husband Harvey, of Ramseur, Faye Cox, and husband Loyd, of Asheboro, brother, Hampton Burgess, and wife Jo, of Ramseur, grandchildren, Tanner Burgess, Anabelle Rhoads, Lyla Mae Rhoads.
