Hogan, Richard Thomas*  
BURLINGTON - Mr. Richard Thomas Hogan, 90, died at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at 5:25 a.m. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Marie W. Hogan and the son of Harris Bynum Hogan and Winifred Frazier Hogan, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in Normandy, and received a Purple Heart. He was owner and operator of Hogan Plumbing for over 40 years. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Gleeson; two sons, Richard Thomas Hogan II and Steven Ward Hogan; sister, Sara Gillespie; six grandchildren, Kerrie Ann Brown, Richard T. "Dickey" Hogan III, Allie Littell, Courtney Gleeson, Steven Hogan and Ashleigh McFarlin; and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Littell, Kaitlin Littell, Jacob Littell, Kyle Brown, Grace Brown, Liam Gleeson and Avery Gleeson. He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. A graveside service will be conducted in Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at 3 p.m. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. Herold, Kingston Alexander*  
BURLINGTON - Kingston Alexander Herold, 7, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center. He was born July 1, 2008, in Durham County, NC to Amber L. Herold and William O. Herold. Kingston was happy, loving and cheerful boy who enjoyed life. Kingston embodied the human spirit. He faced adversity with his infectious smile and heart-warming laughter. He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him, and he will always be in our hearts, no matter how long it may be until we are reunited. In his seven short years, his beautiful soul left a big mark in our world. He is survived by his mother and John McFoy of Carolina Beach and his father of Saxapahaw; five sisters and three brothers. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Deborah Baldwin and Gene Farrington of Burlington; paternal grandparents John Herold and Anne Cassebaum of Elon. The memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold Profitt Sr. The family will receive friends 10 – 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home of his grandmother Deborah Baldwin. Hill, Mrs. Annie Pearl Crisp*  
ELON - Mrs. Annie Pearl Crisp Hill, 88, of 210 Brighton Drive, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Hospice Home of Alamance. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of James R. Crisp and Gertrude Stephens Crisp, both deceased and the wife of the late Clarence J. Hill. Mrs. Hill is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Donna H. Oliver (James) of Elon and Annette Hill Woods (the Rev. Dr. Ricky) of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Rachel Oliver-Cobbin (Keith) of Elon and Lauren Woods of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Raina Cobbin; and a host of other family and friends. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. with the Rev. A. Offord Carmichael Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery next to her husband. Mrs. Hill will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church on Thursday with the family arriving at 12:30 p.m. Her public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Alamance Funeral Service has the honor of serving the Hill family.

Harmon Jr., William Raleigh "Bill"*  
ELON - William "Bill" Raleigh Harmon Jr. passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Aug. 21, 2015. A native of Greensboro, he was the only child of William Raleigh and Annie Woodruff Harmon, both deceased. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. During his career, he also did extensive studies at the University of Virginia, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a retired engineer for AT&T and Alcatel Lucent with over 40 years of service in North Carolina, Virginia, and New Jersey, and a "Member of Technical Staff" of the Bell Laboratories Division. His engineering career began in 1947 at Western Electric in Winston-Salem on radio telephone equipment, followed by work on USAF radar, bombing and navigation equipment both in Winston-Salem and Greensboro. In the mid 1950's, he worked in the Washington, DC area for a defense contractor on electronic countermeasures equipment. In 1961, he returned to North Carolina and worked on the NIKE radars manufactured at the Burlington plant. He was a long-time member of the Burlington Civitan Club, a Master Mason and a volunteer at ARMC, Habitat for Humanity and Christmas Cheer. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, traveling and most of all, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill's gentle, calm and kind nature made it a pleasure to be in his company. His senior high school "notable" read "Gentleman is written on his forehead." Survivors include his wife, Janie; daughter, LuAnne Harmon Barker (Dan); and daughter-in-law, Karen Harmon. Also surviving are grandsons, Michael Harmon and Tom Barker; granddaughters, Dr. Lauren Harmon Gainor (Andy) and Ellie Barker; and great-grandchildren, Ben and Kate Gainor. He was preceded in death by spouse, Elizabeth Murray; and son, Kent Harmon. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 23, at 3 p.m. at Grove Park Church in Burlington, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. with Dr. Gene Hunsinger and Dr. Dale Steele officiating. Haywood, Mrs. Lillie McIntyre*  
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Lillie McIntyre Haywood, 90, of 2139 Race Track Road, Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, August 20, 2015, after three months of failing health. A native of Richmond County, NC, she was the wife of the late John Thomas Haywood and the daughter of Frank Grady McIntyre and Jessie Beatrice Greene McIntyre, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Golden Agers and the Lady's Day Circle of the church. Mrs. Haywood had a passion for gardening and cooking and collecting recipes. She also had the pleasure of authoring two family cookbooks. Survivors include two daughters, Renee Haywood Williams and husband Joey of Taylorsville, NC and Donna Haywood Ashe and husband Donnie of Graham; three grandchildren, Kelly Williams Patterson and husband Jeff, Kristen Williams Icard and husband Daniel and Preston Michael Ashe and wife Candice Mize Ashe; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Patterson, Josie Patterson, Claire Icard, Lillie Taylor Ashe and John Icard; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Arlene McIntyre Baxter of Concord, NC and Gloria McIntyre Braswell and husband Doyle of Homestead, FL; and brother-in-law, Stan Hatcher of Rockingham, NC. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by twin sisters, Maxine and Collene McIntyre; brother, Baxter Grady McIntyre; and sister, Betty McIntyre Hatcher. The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Farron Duncan with the family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bellemont United Methodist Church Cemetery. Other times they will be at the residence.
