Isley, Henry Benjamin “Ben”*  
ATHENS, GA - Henry Benjamin "Ben" Isley, 91, died June 26, 2015. Born Aug. 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Jesse Everett Isley and Lettie Jones Isley. He grew up and resided for most of his life in Haw River, N.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jeffreys Isley; and sons, Stephen and Christopher. Ben is survived by his daughter, Jill Isley Underwood (Thomas); son, Jeffrey Mark Isley (Kay); daughter-in-law, Nancy Isley; sister, Nancy Chatman; his grandchildren, Timothy Holt (Cathleen), Michael Isley and Marybeth Isley; and great-granddaughter Lyric. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II during the Battle of the Bulge. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Haw River where he taught Sunday School for many years. After retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years. In his final years, he resided in Athens, Ga. near his son. He will be lovingly remembered as a kind man of quick wit. His radiant smile and sparkling blue eyes brightened the lives of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Haw River, N.C., at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Memorial donations may be made to the church or to the donor's favorite charity.
