MEBANE - Joseph "Joe" Gattis, born March 5, 1938, in Orange County, NC to the late Robert Richard Gattis and the late Sudie Mae Wade Gattis died on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. Surviving are wife, Patricia "Pat" Johnson Gattis of Mebane, NC; children, Darlene Browning Stafford of Mebane, NC and James Holman Browning Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; special daughter, Shaniece Cates (great-niece) of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Miles S. Browning of Mebane, NC; brother, James Gattis (Nora) of Hillsborough, NC. Funeral will be held Monday, October 5, 2015, at 1 p.m. in First Community Baptist Church, Hillsborough, NC. Burial will be in Gaines Memorial Gardens, Efland, NC. Public viewing will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Family visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 5 PM until 6 p.m. due to inclement weather in Chavis-Parker Funeral Home.

George, Anthony Ray*  
GRAHAM - Anthony Ray George, 54, died Thursday, Sept. 24, at his residence. He was a native of Durham County and employed as an auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray George; and a brother, Jerry George. He is survived by his daughters, Trista George of Graham and Tamara George of Burlington; mother, Eliza Ann George of Apex; grandchildren, Holly Miller and Isabella Riddle; sister, Skylar Johnson of Apex; nieces, Carra Johnson and Kylee Johnson; nephew, Brandon Johnson. A Memorial Service, to celebrate his life, will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Glover, Mrs. Clara  
SILER CITY - Mrs. Clara Glover, 83, of 2113 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, passed away Sept. 30, 2015 at her home. A funeral is planned for Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Union Grove AME Zion Church, Bear Creek, NC. Visitation was held Thursday evening at Knotts & Son Funeral Home, Siler City.

Gregory, Hope Eleen Amick*  
Mrs. Hope Eleen Amick Gregory of Burlington passed away into God's loving arms on Saturday, October 3, 2015 after a decade long battle with Alzheimer's. Hope was born in Columbia, S.C. on April 19, 1955. She was the wife of Gary Gregory, who survives and the daughter of John L. and Billie Amick. Hope graduated from Western Alamance High School and Elon University. She taught at Western Middle School for 26 years and was a majorette while at Elon. Hope was a former North Carolina Baton Twirling State Champion and taught dance at Eloise Glass Studios. For years she gave halftime baton twirling performances at local high school football games. She was a Sunday School teacher and heavily involved with church activities including the choir and Vacation Bible School at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Hope was a kind, gentle, compassionate, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loyal and uplifting to all who called her friend. Hope is very much loved and will always be remembered. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Benjamin Gregory, stepson Christopher Gregory and wife Reba of Rossville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Michaela, Christopher, Ella, Lydia, Anna and Abigail, father, John L. Amick and a brother, Gray Amick and wife Heather of Greensboro. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service, 306 Glenwood Avenue, Burlington. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2250 Saddle Club Road, Burlington, NC. Reverend Tim Robinson and Reverend Brian Crotts will officiate. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park, 4039 South Church Street, Burlington. The family would like to thank all the kind and knowledgeable Hospice caregivers especially Tammi, Janice, Sydney, Olivia, and wonderful Rosa.
