BURLINGTON - Mr. James W. "Jimmy" Rice, 57, of 706 Huffman Mill Road, Apt. G5, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 5 p.m. A native of Rockingham County, he was the husband of Cheryl Boswell Rice, who survives and the son of the late Clyde Rice Sr. and Frances Knight Rice, who survives. He was a supervisor for Copland Fabrics for 31 years and a member of Harvest Hills Church of God. In addition to his wife of the home and mother of Yanceyville, survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Dianne Rice of Yanceyville; two sisters, Nancy Barrett and husband Benny of Anderson and Karen Rice of Arizona; brother, Clyde Rice Jr. of Greensboro; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Christine King and husband Brian of Gibsonville and Kimberly Dawn Lackey and fiancé Robert Surrette of Carolina, N.C.; stepson, John Lackey and wife Danita of Burlington; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alesia Smith. The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Russell Morris and the Rev. Wayne Rouse. Burial will follow in Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence and at the residence of his sister, Nancy Barrett, 3966 Milesville Road, Elon, N.C. ELON, N.C. - Hazel Morton Robertson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 67 years to John William Robertson Jr., who survives. Hazel retired after over 30 years with Lorillard Tobacco. She was a member of Berea Christian Church and was a '42 graduate of A-O High School. She loved making porcelain dolls and crocheting angels. Hazel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her husband, John W. Robertson Jr., of the home; sons, Mark Robertson and wife Mary of Elon and David Robertson and wife Bridget of Burlington; grandchildren, Chad Robertson and wife Kris of Atlanta, Ga., Brad Robertson and wife Erin of Concord, Julian Robertson and wife Tina of Picayune, Miss. and Trudy Robertson of Burlington; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius Everette "Ebb" Morton and Sally Price Morton; brothers, Russell, Vance "Bill", John and Frank Morton; sisters, Peggy Wilson, Alyse Simpson and Edith Tunstall. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care. A special thank you to Polly Wilson and Sharon King who have been Hazel's caregivers for many years. A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bland Leebrick and the Rev. David Morton. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
