Walton, Donald "Don" Leroy*  
BURLINGTON - Mr. Donald "Don" Leroy Walton went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2016 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Graham, NC, he was the son of Lacy and Roxie Dupree Walton. Don was the husband of Susan Leath Walton and loving father to Deborah Walton Maupin and husband Dan of Salisbury, Md. and Shannon Walton Kowalski of Charlotte. He was the grandfather of Will and Becky Maupin, also of Salisbury. His surviving siblings include Bobbie Willets, Carol Allen and husband Tommy, all of Burlington; and sister-in-law, Barbara Walton, of Graham. Don also has several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Guy Walton, Ira "Stumpy" Walton, and George Walton. Don enlisted in the Navy in 1955 and made that his career. His first ship assignment was the USS Harold John Ellison (Guantanamo Bay), followed by many others which included his favorites, the USS Sabine, the USS Independence aircraft carrier, and the USS Fulton, where he was Ships Superintendent of Submarines. He retired as a Hull Technician Chief Petty Officer in 1985. After retirement, Don pursued his passion for golf when he opened Walton's Golf Repair Shop. He played weekly with several groups locally and enjoyed traveling to play golf with his friends as well. Don's family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and wonderful care givers at Kernodle Clinic and Alamance Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Mason Fuller Smith with the family receiving friends from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Salvation Army Boys Club, P.O. Box 1238, Burlington, NC 27216. This organization was very special to Don as a child. Weeks, Latasha Louise*  
LIBERTY - Latasha Louise Weeks, 29, of 3434 W. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, passed away June 20, 2016 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. She was the daughter of Johnny Weeks of Roxboro and the late Vanessa Louise Shoffner. She loved to ride her bicycle. She also enjoyed visiting Ms. Cheryl, as well as playing word search and puzzles, talking on the phone and watching TV. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her brother, Tyson Weeks of Liberty; grandparents, Fred and Ozie Garner of Liberty, and Grace Hardy; a very special aunt, Kim Shoffner and aunt, Mahalia Ross, both of Liberty; uncles, Orlando Weeks and Wilbert Weeks of Burlington, Coy Shoffner of Liberty and the Rev. Travis (Latanya) Shoffner of Greensboro; nephew, Tyrek Alston; special cousins, Christopher Weeks and Kendrick Shoffner; and a host of other cousins and relatives. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph Shoffner and Wilbert Weeks Sr.; a brother, Marcus Chiner Shoffner; and uncles, Weldon Shoffner, and Derek Shoffner. A public viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23rd, in the Mary Adelaide Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. MEBANE - Mrs. Denise D. Williamson, 63, of 115 Elizabeth Lane, died June 23, 2016 at Duke Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington. Young, Luella A.*  
BURLINGTON - Luella A. Young, 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Verona, Mo. to the late Samuel Benjamin and Ella King Witthaus and was married for 66 years to the late Edmund N. Young. She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church. She loved quilting and had a passion for journaling daily events and the weather. She is survived by her beloved canine companion, Tibby; her children, Bill (Ann) Young of Leesburg, Ga., Gene (Sue) Young of Alton, N.H., Luana (Gary) Shafer of Burlington; grandchildren, Ben (Courtnie) Young of Salem, Ore., Morgen (Kevin) Young Kemp of Camillus, N.Y., Catherine (Andrew) Young Craker of South Bend, Ind., Kevin Blincoe of Mebane; great-grandchildren, James and Matthew Young, Zackary and Jacob Blincoe; and brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Witthaus of Saratoga, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Samuel and William K. Witthaus. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Mt. Zion Christian Church by the Rev. Dr. Rick Webster.
