BURLINGTON - Arthur Ray Daniels Sr., 92, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the Hospice Home of Alamance County.
He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Emmett, Idaho, to the late Van Arthur Daniels and Margaret Reese Daniels. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army
, having served in Germany and France. On Sept. 24, 1948, he married Nettie Hazel Davis.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Nettie; their daughter, Margaret Janie Daniels; sisters, Iva May Daniels Brandon and June Daniels Edward; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Davis Daniels; and a son-in-law, Robert Alan Yow.
A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by four children, Arthur Ray Daniels Jr. of Asheboro, Carolyn Daniels Yow of Greensboro, Sandra Daniels Brown and husband Dale and Michael Lee Daniels, all of Burlington; four grandchildren, Johnathan Brown, Michelle Brown Randolph and husband Danny, Kristi Yow Malcolm and husband Christopher, and Janna Nicole Daniels; six great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Jessica, Allison and Scotty Randolph and Abigail and Laura Malcolm.
Arthur was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Burlington Ward. He served in many callings throughout the years. He loved working on his genealogy, tracing his ancestors and learning about them, and enjoyed helping others with their genealogy.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, Burlington. A service will be held Thursday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Burlington Ward, 712 South Williamson Avenue, Elon, N.C., conducted by Bishop Todd Coleman.
