Billy Ashby

PLEASANT GARDEN - Bill was born on April 23, 1932, in Rowan County to Raymond and Lucille Overcash Ashby, who preceded him in death.
After six long and intense days in Cone Hospital, Bill's request was that he wanted to go home to die. He came home and celebrated his 81stt birthday. Four days later, on April 27, 2013, Bill left his earthly home and body to receive his heavenly home and body and to see his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face and wait for his saved loved ones and friends to join him.
Bill served his country in the Army during the Korean War. After more than 50 years as a barber he retired from P.G. Barber Shop. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Randleman.
Left behind to cherish Bill's memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Jacqueline Allred Ashby; his daughter, Tina Duke (Larry); our son Billy Ray Ashby Jr.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Boyd, Kathryn Barkley (William); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marcus Lee Allred (Frances) and numerous nieces and nephews; and our very special Breanna (Boston Terrier – who thinks she is a human).
A special thank you to friend and doctor, Dr. Joseph Coladanato and staff at Carolina Kidney Center, Cynthia Long, Bill's PD nurse at Burlington Kidney Center, and our very special and best friends Mike and Jan Fields and Ethan. Thank you all for being there for us. We love you very much.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Forbis & Dick, Pleasant Garden Chapel.
