Clarice Dean Smith Covington "Deanie" Kelley

BURLINGTON - Deanie passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Clare Bridge of Burlington, her home for the past two years.
She was a lifelong resident of Burlington. Her parents were Blanche R. and Charles Smith. She was the last surviving member of a family of 11 children. Deanie was a woman of faith who was blessed with traits of courage, strength and generosity. Family was her life, her joy and her heart.
Deanie's husbands, W.E. Covington and Victor A. Kelley; son, Jerry D. Covington; and daughter, Nancy Covington Long, preceded her in death, as well as her sisters, Mary, Violet, Eary, Ruby and Agnes; and brothers, Harvey, David, Wilton, Charlie and Carl Smith.
She is survived by B. Alan Long (son-in-law); Jean B. Covington (daughter-in-law); six granddaughters, Karen Long Gupton (William), Kelly Long Haskins (John), Brooks Long Cloninger (Larry), and McIver Long Bair (Derek), Maria Covington Tulloss (Harrison) and Megan Covington Baker (Jim); great-grandchildren, Morgan and Connor Haskins, Stuart and Allison Gupton, Hayes and Holt Cloninger, Cameron and Harris Tulloss and Ward and Lily Baker; sister-in-law, Peggy C. Smith; beloved nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Tori "Sissy" Lambert.
Deanie was a dedicated employee for many years at Carolina-Koury Hosiery Mill. She volunteered with the DAV Auxiliary and area nursing homes. She loved people, playing bingo and gospel music.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the graveside service. A celebration of her life will follow at 3 p.m. as a graveside service at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to express special gratitude to the staff of Clare Bridge of Burlington and Hospice of Alamance County.
