Mrs. Corina Crisp Jones, 80, of 802 Washington Street, Burlington, passed away at Alamance Health Care Center. She journeyed home November 20, 2013, at 6:30 a.m.
Born in Orange County, Mrs. Jones affectionately nicknamed, "Ren," lived in New York City and Baltimore, Maryland. She then made her home in Burlington. For more than 40 years, "Ren" was the youngest of nine children born to the late Ed and Novella McCandies Crisp. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church, Apple Street. She served faithfully with the Usher and Hospitality Ministries.
"Ren" met and married John Calvin Jones in May 1970. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home.
She worked and retired from the General Electric Company but, she delighted in working part-time at Hanes and Croscill Department Stores.
Mrs. Jones was the last surviving member of her immediate family but she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25, 2013, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Apple Street. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
The family will also receive friends at Mrs. Jones' home on Saturday and Sunday (November 23-24, 2013) from 2 – 6 p.m. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Blackwell Funeral Home.
