Delrees Sawyer Hughes

BURLINGTON - Delrees Sawyer Hughes, 76, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 3:27 a.m.
A native of Pasquotank County, she was the wife of the late Jimmy Wayne Hughes and the daughter of the late Willard Sawyer and the late Ida Mae Sawyer. She retired as a word processor for the Alamance County Mental Health Center and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elon.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hughes and his wife Deanna, of Elon, and Kramer Hughes, of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Michelle Lassiter and her husband Mike, Anna Hughes and her fiancée Travis Dickey, and Alex Hughes and his wife Samantha; and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Goode, Caila Goode, Camden Lassiter and Haley Lassiter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Alan Hughes.
The funeral service will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Elon on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. by the Revs. Mark Mofield, David Durham and Willard Sawyer. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence of her son, Jimmy Hughes, 1691 Powerline Road, Elon, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Elon, P.O. Box 778, Elon NC 27244.
