Dennis Earl Mebane

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. Dennis Earl Mebane was born in Green Level, N.C. on March 25, 1952, to the late Manley and Vera Mebane. He departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe, N.C.
He was married to the former Ramona D. Whitted on July 17, 1976. To that union two children were born, Dennis Earl Mebane Jr. (Suzanne) and Whitney Denise Mebane. Additionally, one of the greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren, Jayden and Julia. He is also survived by one sister, Alice Devonia Mebane.
Preceding him in his death was his brother, Gerald Murray Mebane.
Mr. Mebane was educated in the Alamance County Public School System and graduated from Graham High School. In 1974, he earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Alamance Community College.
Hard work and dedication were two inherent traits of Mr. Mebane as demonstrated in his 32 years with Sears Roebuck and Company. As his roles progressed from commissioned sales to District Manager, he and his family traversed from Mt. Airy, Maryland, Lynchburg, Virginia and finally back to his native state of North Carolina.
After a brief retirement in 2005, Dennis resumed his management career with Lowes Home Improvement. From 2008, until his unexpected death, he was the General Manager of Store #2907 (Indian Trail, NC).
On days off from work, Dennis could be found maintaining his pristine lawn, washing his truck or telling his favorite stories to his grandkids. His other hobbies included cooking, baking, and photography.
Dennis Mebane was a genuine man from a small Southern town. He carried his "You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy" philosophy wherever he went. Dennis strived for perfection in all aspects of his life, while never forgetting his roots. His passion and love for family, friends and God will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue through his wife, children, grandchildren and everyone whom he came in contact with throughout his life.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail, N.C. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Weddington.
