Don Evans Paul, 83, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Wesley Long Hospital following a four-week illness.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Don was born June 21,1930 in Burlington, N.C. to Winfred and Mary Paul. He was the oldest of three children. Don served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He graduated from Elon University in 1960 and was employed by Cone Mills in administration for 40 years. In 1986 he received the J. W. Gawthrop Award in Administrative Management.
He also volunteered at the Northeast Guilford Fire Department as a member of the board of directors for 13 years. Don was a member of the Edward R Murrow Golden K Kiwanis Club of Greensboro. For 15 years, Don served as Guilford Park Presbyterian's treasurer. His favorite pastimes after retirement included both flower and vegetable gardening. He enjoyed yearly family beach trips and spending time with his grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Barnhardt.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Browning Paul of the home; daughter Cindy Webster (Robert) of Greensboro, son, Michael Paul (Jane) of Reidsville; grandchildren Melissa Jefferson, Noah Paul, and SPC James Griffin; sister Shirley Hall of Burlington, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guilford Park Presbyterian Church, 2100 Fernwood Drive, Greensboro, NC 27408.
