GRAHAM - Mrs. Edna Phillips Durham, 85, died at Alamance House in Burlington on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at 1:25 a.m. following several months declining health.
A native of Gulf, N.C., she was the wife of the late Hubert Franklin Durham and the daughter of Robert Phillips and Eutha Hillard Phillips, both deceased.
Edna loved taking care of her family, gardening, cooking and canning. She was formerly employed with Genesco as a payroll clerk. She was a longtime member and past President of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) where she was voted, "Woman of the Year." Edna was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Davis and husband Michael of Burlington and Tracey Woods and husband Blain of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Kayla Davis, Marley Davis, John Woods and Jim Woods; brother, Bucky Phillips and wife Frances Rae of Sanford; sister, Ann Womack of Sanford; extended Durham family; and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Crowson of Benson and Harold "Boots" Atkins of Gulf, N.C.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Crowson, Bobbie Jean Atkins and Naomi Perry and husband A. J.; and brother-in-law, Johnny Womack.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Don Pegg with the family receiving friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of Kimberly Davis, 4633 Otter Court, Burlington, N.C.
