Mrs. Evelyn Carruth Deese Bolick

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Evelyn Carruth Deese Bolick, 103, of Burlington died at Edgewood Place on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 7:20 a.m.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., she was the wife of the late Duncan McGregor Deese and the late Earl Leslie Bolick and the daughter of Robert Alexander Carruth and Ada Capps Carruth of Landrum, S.C., both deceased. She retired from the Burlington City School System in 1975 and was a former teacher at Turrentine Middle School. She was active with the Good Shepherd Community Kitchen and the Homeless Shelter. Evelyn was a member of St. John's New Mission United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Burlington Business Women's Association and the Pilot Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Ada Phillippi and husband John of Greensboro and Jane Deese of Morehead; three grandchildren, Evelyn Schuck and husband Dan of San Diego, Neil and Phillip Duncan Kimbro; six great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lacey, Faith and Ruth Kimbro and Duncan and Jakob Schuck; and a special niece, Dianne Coltrane; and Donnie Carruth, Kathy Sitton and families of Landrum, S.C and Tryon, N.C.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Phil Hardy with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
