Franklin Ryan Hill, 38, of New Bern, passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012. He was a kindhearted soul who enjoyed helping others and loved fishing, spending time at the beach and spending time with his dog, Scarlet.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Cayton Hill. He is survived by his father, Woodrow Franklin Hill, of New Bern; sisters, Paula Elizabeth Hill, of Burlington, and Patricia Lynn Hill, of New Bern; partner, Kevin Allen Mise, of Burlington; several nieces and nephews and one great-niece.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a brief time following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Humane Society of the U.S., 2100 L Street NW, Washington, DC 20037. Those who wish to sign the online guest book may do so by visiting
