George Douglas Carr

LONGS, S.C. - George Douglas Carr, 78, formerly of Burlington, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 16, 1934 in Gaston County, N.C., he was the son of the late George W. and Thelma Stanford Carr.
Mr. Carr was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, proudly serving his country for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Annie Dawkins Carr, of Longs, S.C.; son, Marc D. Carr; daughters, Vicki Melvin, Angela Sword, Belinda Shepherd, Julia Runyan and Debbie Lemnaru; brothers, Wayne, Herman and Billy Carr; sister, Frankie Hall; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
