Mr. George Russell Jr.

YANCEYVILLE - Mr. George Russell Jr., 82, of 2174 George Russell Road, died Feb. 9, 2014, at his residence.
He was the husband of Mrs. Betty Bigelow Russell, who survives, and the son of Mr. George Russell Sr. and Mrs. Sallie Watlington Russell, both deceased.
Mr. Russell was a self-employed farmer and a member of White Level Primitive Baptist Church. He loved hunting, sawing and cooking. He also loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by sons, George Russell III (Pattie) and Michael Lee Russell, all of Burlington, and Eric Randy Russell of Yanceyville; daughter, Marilyn Jeannette Russell James (Larry) of Burlington, Jackie Russell Dooley of Washington, D.C., Angela Judy Russell Watkins of Burlington and Dana Russell Enoch of the home; brothers, James Edward Russell (Ruby) of Efland, John Lee Russell, Garfield Russell, Lacie Sampson Russell and Joseph Russell, all of Yanceyville; sisters, Louise Russell and Mary Russell Slade, both of Yanceyville; a foster sister, Ethel Brooks of Yanceyville; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Russell; two brothers, Willie Thomas Russell and Charlie Monroe Russell; a grandson, Master George Russell IV; and a foster brother, Houston Brooks.
Public viewing will be Saturday, Feb. 15, 2015, from 1 until 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. The wake will be Saturday from 5 until 6 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Graves Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alexander Graves delivering the eulogy. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
