Mrs. Helen George Hollingsworth

Mrs. Helen George Hollingsworth, 98, of Burlington, passed away Sunday morning, June 23, 2013, at Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Burlington.
Mrs. Hollingsworth was born April 17, 1915, in Gaston County, and was the daughter of the late Henry Davis and Florence Black George, longtime residents of Cherryville. A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and Winthrop College with a master's degree, she taught history and English in the following North Carolina high schools: Franklin (Surry County), Guilford, and Belmont (Gaston County) and served as a librarian in the senior high schools of Harding, South Mecklenburg, and Garinger in Charlotte. She retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in 1976.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Hollingsworth Jr., of Mount Airy; five brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Denise C. Waters officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
