Howard Gary Ward

DURHAM, N.C. - Howard Gary Ward, 63, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at his home.
He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Howard and Lula Mae Morgan Ward.
Gary worked for many years with Leader Mobile Homes as a general sales manager. In his later years he volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans and took an active role in AA as a sponsor and mentor to many he considered family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served on a Medevac Unit in Vietnam. Gary was awarded the Purple Heart and was a Prisoner of War.
He is survived by his nieces, Wendy Ingle Rumley and husband Mark and Dene' Ingle Rich and husband Tim; great-nephews, Dustin Rumley, TJ and Trent Rich; great-nieces, Jessica Rumley and Tess Rich, all of McLeansville; brother-in-law, Jerry Alan Ingle of Whitsett; and honorary brother, Barry Oakley of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Marie Ward Ingle.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. in Historic Providence Christian Church cemetery in Graham.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m.
