Mr. James Frederick Roorback, 82, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
He was born in Blair County, Pa. on Nov. 23, 1930, to the late Donald Frederick and Thelma Cherry Roorback. Mr. Roorback was co-owner of Superior Furniture Gallery in Burlington, N.C. and was a member of Burlington Assembly of God. He served our country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Jones Roorback of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Robert Woody of Burlington, N.C., Patty and Scott Wooddell of Chesapeake, Va., Laurie and Matthew Converse of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; a son, Fred Roorback of Missoula, Mont.; grandchildren, Jill Fine (Chris), Alex Roorback, Jodie Hart (Dave), Eric Roorback, Dillon Jones (Andrea), Patrick Jones; one great-grandchild, and one on the way; a sister, Erma Nolder of Beaver, Pa.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Roorback was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Roorback and a brother, Bill Roorback.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, from 3 until 4 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Burlington Assembly of God with Pastor Howard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, N.C.
