James Wesley "Jim" Mitchell

BURLINGTON - James Wesley "Jim" Mitchell, 86, of 556 Isley Place, Burlington, died on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Ella Rae Miles Mitchell, who survives, and the son of Walter Bryant Mitchell and Emily "Zoo" Heritage Mitchell, both deceased. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II and formerly worked as the office manager at WebCo Mills before retiring from Ed Alexander Fabrics. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ and a former member of Quarry Hills Country Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Kaki Mitchell Rogers and husband Tom of Burlington and Susan Mitchell Nauman and husband Jack of Gibsonville; one son, USAF Ret. Col. Michael R. Mitchell and wife Carol of Poquoson, Virginia; one sister, Rebecca Mitchell Mann of Gibsonville; six grandchildren, Kasi Rogers Collins, David Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Mitchell Rogers, John Nauman Jr., and Jay Nauman; and a great-grandson, Wesley Mitchell.
He was predeceased by a brother, Walter David Mitchell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the First Reformed United Church of Christ with the Rev. Phil Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 25 from 9:30 until 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of First Reformed United Church of Christ. At other times they will be at the residence.
