Jeanne D. Guye

ELON - Jeanne was born Wilma Jeanne Disosway on Aug. 24, 1922, in Sheldon, Illinois to E. Eugene and Beryl (Webster) Disosway.
She progressed through the Sheldon schools. She played piano for the high school bands and was editor of the school paper.
In 1945, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bradley University followed by an R.N. degree from St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago.
She married Robert Guy on Sept. 14, 1946, and the newlyweds settled in Northern California where Bob worked for Tidewater Oil Co. as an engineer.
She worked as a Pediatrics nurse until her own children, Peggy and Russell, were born, when she opted to be a stay-at-home mom – a decision she never regretted.
After 46 years in the San Francisco Bay Area they moved in 1992 to Olympia, Washington to be near their daughter and her family.
Jeanne loved reading, traveling, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her family and granddaughters. Jeanne especially enjoyed being involved in events that involved her children and grandchildren, from bake sales to Cub Scouts den mother, to running grandchildren to piano practice and soccer. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the AAUW.
She is survived by her son, Russell Guy of Elon, N.C.; two adult granddaughters, Kate Vatter of Helena, Mont.; and Robyn Vatter a student at the University of Richmond; their father, Michael Vatter of Olympia, Wash. her sister, Mary D. Parks of Englewood, Colo.; niece, Suzanne Parks of Tucson, Ariz.; and nephew, Gary Parks of Centennial, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her daughter Peggy, and her parents Eugene and Beryl.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Commons Room at The Hamlet at Blakey Hall, Elon.
Inurnment will be in the family crypt, Odd Fellows Memorial Cemetery, Olympia, Wash. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
