Mrs. Joanne Tutterow Cathey

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Joanne Tutterow Cathey of 2306 May Drive, died at her residence on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. following a long battle with leukemia.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Jack W. Cathey and the daughter of Turner Winfred Tutterow and Carrie Jones Tutterow, both deceased. She retired from the Alamance County Department of Social Services and was a former employee with Burlington Industries. Joanne was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and BYKOTA Sunday School Class.
Survivors include three children, Donald Craig Cathey and wife Donna of Burlington, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Cathey Lowe and husband Tommy of Burlington and Joel "Joey" Holt Cathey of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Zack Cathey and wife Megan of Burlington, Kelsey Cathey of Burlington, Jacob Lowe of Alexandria, Va. and Chris Lowe of Burlington; great-grandchild, Elisha "Eli" Jack Cathey; and brother, Jacob Turner Tutterow and wife Sonja of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Leo Tutterow and his surviving spouse, Mary Lou Tutterow.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Gene Hunsinger, with the family receiving friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. At other times they will be at the residence.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brenda, Wanda, Carolyn and Sheila for the special loving care given to Mrs. Cathey and to ARMC Cancer Center, especially Dr. Choksi.
