Lucille Home "Sue" Darby

BURLINGTON - Lucille Horne "Sue" Darby, 70, of 1614 Morningside Drive, Apt. B, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at her home after a sudden illness.
Born in Union County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Lee George Horne and Wencie Elizabeth Sanders Horne. She was a longtime waitress with Western Charcoal Steakhouse and also Huey's Seafood. She was an avid sports fan, playing high school basketball, enjoying water skiing, horseback riding and was involved in the Senior Softball League.
Mrs. Darby is survived by two sons, Warren Dodson Jr. and Wynndell Dodson, both of Elon; granddaughter, Karli Shannen Dodson; sisters, Lucy Bridges of Burlington and Sherry Proctor of Youngstown, Fla.; and brother, Wesley Fred Horne of Raleigh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bradie Horne, J.B. Horne, Thomas Leon Horne and Harold Horne; and sisters, Elsie Mae Long, Mary Elizabeth Parker, Ellen Marguerite Horne and Betty Lee Burnette.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Beck. The family will receive friends following the service.
