Mrs. Margaret Jobe Hicks

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Margaret Jobe Hicks, 87, formerly of Woodale Drive, Elon, died at The Homeplace of Alamance on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at 6:10 a.m.
A native of Orange County, she was the devoted wife of Roy Allen Hicks, who survives and the daughter of Hubert Edward Jobe and Rosa Boone Jobe, both deceased. She was a retired dental assistant having worked for Dr. Frank Gilliam and Dr. Gerald Hargis. Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elon where she taught Sunday School for the Junior Class and was a leader of the Women's Mission. She was also a charter member of the Burlington Breakfast Club.
In addition to her husband of The Homeplace, survivors include two sisters, Marie Ashley of Matthews and Sara Elizabeth Tolar of Hillsborough; brother-in-law, Frank Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elaine Adams; a brother, Harley Edward Jobe; and sister-in-law, Ruth Jobe.
The funeral service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Elon on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David Durham with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
