Mrs. Marie Rhew Herring

GRAHAM - Mrs. Marie Rhew Herring, 89, of 148 Dixon Road, Graham, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Hospice Home in Burlington after a two-week critical illness.
A native of Alamance County, Mrs. Herring was the wife of the late John C. Herring and the daughter of the late Edd Rhew and the late Mary Hicks Rhew Garner.
Mrs. Herring was a former textile worker and an avid seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, both as a hobby and for friends and family.
Mrs. Herring is survived by her sons, Dannie Herring and wife Judy of Liberty, Billy Herring and wife Sue of Haw River; five grandchildren, Rodney Herring and wife Melanie and Rickey Herring and wife Tara, all of Burlington, Kelly Meddock and husband Ryan of Wilmington, Mike Herring and wife Leslie of Burlington and Scott Herring and girlfriend Stephanie Bray of Haw River; three great-grandchildren, Cody Coble, Grace Herring and Jovie Herring; sister, Violet Spoon and husband Charles of Burlington; and a brother, Irvin Rhew of Dover, Florida.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Herring was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Cook; and three brothers, Walter Rhew, Spencer Rhew and Paul Rhew.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 1 until 2 p.m.
A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Alamance Memorial Park. Officiating will be her former neighbor, Pastor Bobby Gilley.
