Mr. Lester Shelton Tripp

MEBANE - Mr. Lester Shelton Tripp, 86, of 140 Woodlawn Road, passed away at White Oak Manor on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty B. Tripp.
Lester was born in Alamance County to Weaver and Flora Tripp. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from AT&T after 28 years of employment. Lester was a member of First Baptist Church of Mebane, a member of the American Legion - Post 95, The VFW 1920, and the Historical Society of Mebane.
Surviving loved ones include three daughters, Linda T. Hupman, Norma T. Noah and Sandra T. Cook; five grandchildren, Leslie Noah, Lauren Valentino, Kristen Cook, Lindsay Hupman and Tripp Hupman; four great-grandchildren, Trevor and Dylan Edwards, and Vincent and Victor Valentino.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard L. Tripp, James W. Tripp, Harold C. Tripp and Weaver W. Tripp, and by a sister, Lois T. Coble.
The funeral service will be held at McClure Funeral Chapel in Mebane at 2 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 16, 2012. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane. All other times the family will receive friends at the residence. The burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor for all their loving care and support during Lester's stay. Also appreciated the support of Hospice the last week.
