BURLINGTON - Mrs. Jennie Mae Rivers Rayle, 96, of Markham Street, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 8:45 a.m. at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, for they were the joy of her life. She enjoyed trips to the mountains and loved to square dance. She attended the World of Pentecost and was retired from the textiles industry.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Lewis Rayle, of the home; a daughter, Virginia R. Norwood of Graham; sons, Mackie E. Rivers and wife, Bonnie, of Burlington, and Bobby Rivers and wife, Glenda, of Gibsonville; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Cannon, of Baltimore, Md.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas J. Rivers; her parents, Mac and Lillie Waddle; a daughter, Betsy Crumpton; sons, Raymond L. Rivers and Charlie T. Rivers; a grandson, Tim Rivers; a great-grandson, Coley Rivers; and brothers, Frank and Jack Waddle.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Feb. 26, 2013, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. Kenny Godair and the Rev. Bobby Fann officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the daughter, Virginia, at 509 Mendel Terrace, Graham, NC 27253.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell and to Mrs. Rayle's granddaughter, April Reed, for their love, help and compassion shown during Mrs. Rayle's illness.
