HIGH POINT - Ms. Cecile S. Johnson, 68, of 2128 Chester Ridge Road, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. Cecile was the daughter of the late Mr. Wiley Swann Sr. and the late Mrs. Ollie Russell Swann. She was the wife of the late John Thomas Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Swann, of Graham, Tonya Curtis (Michael), of High Point, and Robin Brown (James), of High Point; five brothers, Wiley Swann Jr. (Martha), of White Plains, N.Y., Harvey Swann (Naomi) of Colorado, Alfred Swann (Patricia) of Burlington, Lanier Swann (Barbara) of Caroleen, N.C., and Jerry Swann (Lillie) of Reidsville; three sisters, Willie Lea Swann, of Burlington, Ruthie Leath, of Elon, and Doris Richmond (Jesse), of Burlington; five grandchildren, Thomas Baldwin Jr., Brandon Coble, Jamel Brown, Narissa Brown, and Hailey Curtis; one great-grandchild, Cameron Graves; one aunt, Nannie Pearl Oliver, of Richmond, Va.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Swann and Alvis Swann, and sister, Louise Swann.
She was a member of Miles Chapel Baptist Church and former President of the Usher board and was very active in church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to make pies for her brothers. Overall, she just loved her family. She was on the basketball team when she was in high school and an avid Tar Heel and Panthers sports fan.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church before the service. The family will arrive at 1:30 p.m. Public viewing will be Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington. At other times, the family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Michelle Swann, 2009 Swepsonville Road, Graham, N.C.
The funeral will be Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Miles Chapel Baptist Church, Mebane, N.C., with the Rev. Bruce Hurst providing words of comfort.
Burial will be in Miles Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington.
