Odessa Maggie Poteat Rogers

MEBANE - Mrs. Odessa Maggie Poteat Rogers, 102, of 6167 N.C. 119 South, died Jan. 10, 2013, at the Hospice Home.
She was the wife of Mr. Linwood Rogers, deceased, and the daughter of Mr. John Poteat and Mrs. Louellen Evans Poteat, both deceased.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Angie Poteat Ealey, of Greensboro; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Poteat, of Philadelphia, Earnest Poteat, of the home, and Philmo Poteat (Frances), of Burlington; sisters, Clara Poteat, of the home, and Nellie Tyler (Junious), of White Plains, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rainey Poteat, and brothers Roy, Nello, Curtis and Garland Poteat.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Sweet Gum Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the services at the church, and at other times the family will receive visitors at the home. A public viewing will be held Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
