Paul Moore King

On March 17, 2013 God said to come home, "I need you to sing in the Heavenly choir." He died at his home in Pleasant Garden with his caretaker wife of 46 years, Velma Harmon King, by his side
A celebration of Paul's life will be at 2 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Funeral Home and the family will gather with friends at 1 p.m. prior to the service Wednesday.
Paul Moore King, 93, was born Feb. 4, 1920 in Guilford County, the second son of 10 children to George Lee King Sr. and Vera Chrismon King.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roland, George Jr., James, Melvin, Ralph, Merle, Fred; and sisters, Frances Sykes and Mattie Whitesell.
Surviving, other than his wife, is his sister, Ruth Nicholson. Others left behind with many special memories of their own are Daryl (Glenda), Ronald (Ginny), Randy who called him "Daddy" and Don (Yvette,) who called him "Dad". Grandchildren and great-grandchildren called him "PaPa" or "Gam-pa."
Paul was educated in Guilford County and graduated from Altamahaw High School and then attended Elon College. He was drafted into the Army during World War II and, upon his return, he began his career in textiles where he retired after 27 years with Kayser-Roth. He will be remembered by his beautiful singing voice during weddings and church music.
Paul and Velma's life together has been filled with music ever since they first met singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Elon. It would be a blessing to Velma and a fitting celebration of Paul's life if memorial gifts are donated to the First Baptist Church of Elon Music Fund, P.O. Box 778, Elon, NC 27244
