Percy Rogers was born Sept. 14, 1920 in Alamance County, N.C. He was one of five children born to the late Robert Rogers and Nannie Holt Rogers. Percy took his flight to his heavenly home Aug. 21, 2013.
Mr. Rogers graduated from Graham High School, Graham, N.C. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Harris Barber College, Raleigh, N.C. Following his graduation, he moved to White Plains, N.Y.
He held many jobs in New York but he said his best years of working were with the Rockefeller Foundation as Purchasing Manager.
Due to failing health, he spent a number of years at the East Haven Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Bronx, N.Y.
He leaves to mourn two sisters, Fannie Thompson of Mebane, N.C. and Gertrude R. Foust of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Toni Denise Barnes and Steven Thomas; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Thomas, of White Plains, N.Y, in 1996.
