GRAHAM - Phyllis Anne Swasey passed away May 4, 2013. Phyllis, a mother of five, grandmother of six and great-grandmother of one, was born in Schenectady, N.Y. She raised her children with her husband of 56 years, the late Arthur M. Swasey Jr., living in Beverly, Mass., Hendersonville, N.C., Lynnfield, Mass., Manlius, N.Y, and Farmington, Conn.
She met her calling as a mother, friend and good neighbor. She loved to garden, play bridge and take care of her loving pets. She had a special affinity for feeding the birds, squirrels, butterflies and her children's friends, who always seemed to gather at the Swasey household.
Phyllis was involved in her church and neighborhood activities. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and during her later years, along with her husband, provided bullet-resistant vests for police dogs. She was both an avid reader and letter writer and also a caring daughter for her parents and in-laws.
She is survived by Robert, Nancy and Larry Swasey of Lynnfield, Mass.; Steve, Mary Lou, Jon and Nicky Swasey of Syracuse, N.Y.; Sue, Alan, and Lauren Bice of Graham, N.C.; Arthur Swasey, Kenyie Del Rosario and Kenyie-Ann Swasey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Larry Swasey of Babylon, N.Y.; Hamish Coates and Sara and Imogen Bice of Melbourne, Australia; and Alison and Chris Bice of Graham, N.C.
