Raney Reid "Buck" Hooper

FLETCHER, N.C. - Mr. Raney Reid "Buck" Hooper, 95, of Burlington, died at the Beystone Health and Rehabilitation in Fletcher, N.C. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at 3:06 a.m.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Louise Boswell Hooper, who survives, and the son of John W. Hooper and Lela Reid Hooper, both deceased. He was former manager of Coble Hardware. Buck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington and the Alamance Country Club. He loved to hunt, trap and fish and to play golf and tennis.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Elaine Sawyer and husband Richard of Burlington and Bette Stuckey and husband David of Fletcher; a sister, Jewel McAdams; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Hooper; sisters, Annie Lou Rice, Fannie Barnwell and Bessie Hughes; and brothers, Lacy Hooper, Hubert Hooper, Lewis Hooper and Wilber "Black" Hooper.
The funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Dale Steele in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence of Elaine and Richard Sawyer, 3599 Liberty Drive, Burlington, N.C.
