Mr. Richard Edwin "Dick" Hargrove

GRAHAM - Mr. Richard Edwin "Dick" Hargrove, 81, of Graham, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 2:07 a.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Virginia Gunn Hargrove, who survives, and the son of Dewey E. Hargrove and Mattie Parrott Hargrove, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired clerk of the U. S. Postal Service in Graham. Dick was a 1951 graduate of the last class of Burlington High School and a former member of the Burlington and Graham Civitan Clubs. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church and former Sunday school superintendent and treasurer of the Fellowship Class.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Melissa Holmes and husband Jeff of Graham and Sharon Yow and husband Walter of Haw River; son, Reid Hargrove and wife Amy of Graham; sister, Debbie Tolbert of Carolina Beach; and five grandchildren, Braxton and Jake Holmes, Allyson and Preston Yow, and Nick Hargrove.
The funeral service will be conducted at Davis Street United Methodist Church on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Wilbur Jackson. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
