YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Robert Henry "Rob" Walker, of 435 Wall Street, entered peacefully into eternal rest Oct. 7, 2013.
A Caswell County native, he was born May 11, 1934, to the late Raymond Ware Walker and the late Lillie Jones Walker. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Graves Satterfield Walker.
Rob was a U.S. Air Force
veteran and a graduate of N.C. State University. He was an excellent and multi-talented carpenter and co-owner of Ace Home and Building Center for more than 20 years. He was a fireman
with the Yanceyville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, serving as Fire Chief for many of those years. He also served his community in many civic capacities.
Rob is survived by three daughters, Julie Walker Thompson (Steve), Karen Walker Daniel (Bill) and Gina Walker Lunsford (Brian); and six grandchildren, Gwynn W. Thompson, Claire E. Daniel, Kathryn A. Daniel, Grace F. Daniel, Carson W. Lunsford and Hannah E. Lunsford; a sister, Carolyn W. Shumate; and a brother, Raymond B. Walker.
His family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many friends and relatives who stood by Rob and Lib over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Protection Society of Caswell County, P.O. Box 193, Yanceyville, NC 27379, in honor of Rob's love for his faithful dog and companion. Buddy.
The family will receive friends and family at the residence on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. and will hold a private memorial service on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.
