Mr. Robert Holt ""Bob"" Slaughter

GRAHAM - Mr. Robert Holt "Bob" Slaughter, 75, of 4717 NC 54 Highway, Graham, died at the Hospice Home on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at 7:50 p.m., following two years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Elizabeth Ann Slaughter, who survives, and the son of William Glenn Slaughter and Catherine Holt Slaughter, both deceased.
He was the retired founder of Golden Rule Plastics Inc. and a former police officer with the Burlington Police Department. Bob was coach and sponsor of Bob's Blue Blazers Football, Baseball and Basketball Teams and a die-hard Duke fan. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and past chairman of the Trustees.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include five sons, Jeff Slaughter and wife Carolyn and Joel Slaughter and wife Stephanie, all of Graham, Tommy Slaughter of Mebane, Timmy Slaughter and wife Brenda of Alma, Mich. and Steve Walker of Tennessee; four sisters, Polly Brown of Gibsonville, Catherine Sharpe and husband Jimmy of Burlington, Laura Phillips and husband Ritchie of Whitsett and Pamela Faucette of Spartanburg, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Timmy, Mandy, Staci, Michael, Andrew, Grayson and Austin; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marie Slaughter of Alamance.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Elizabeth Slaughter; and brother, Bill Slaughter.
The funeral service will be conducted at Salem United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Cindy Lister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
