Rudolph Lindermann McRee

Rudolph Lindermann McRee, age 84, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Born May 1, 1928 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Robert L. McRee and Lottie Yount McRee. He graduated from Newton-Conover High School in 1948, served his country in the U.S. Army and in the Korean War in 1952, then graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1954. He retired from Southern Furniture where he worked as an accountant. Rudy was confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in 1942 and was a member for 71 years, serving as treasurer, secretary and an usher. Rudy was a member of American Legion Post #48 in Hickory, a member of Camp Linn Haven Booster Club, was a 20-year-holder of Hickory Crawdad season tickets, a member of the Senior Bowling League at Colonial Lanes, and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Frances McRee; sister, Helen McRee; and brother, Martin McRee.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Maryann McRee; niece, Judy Harman and husband, Fred, of Maiden; nephews, Robert McRee and wife, Shirley, of Statesville, Tim McRee and wife, Suzi, of Conover; sister-in-law, Carol McRee of Conover; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tom and Theresa Blackmon of Mebane, N.C., Frances and Bill Smithey of Stanley, N.C.; special cousin, Betty Spencer of Conover.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Weaver and Vicar Harry Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 216 5th Avenue SE, Conover, NC 28613.
