Ms. Vernell Vernessa McLaughlin Murray

BURLINGTON - Ms. Vernell Vernessa McLaughlin Murray, 60, of 121 James Drive, died March 16 at her home.
She was the daughter of Mr. Wallace Jackson McLaughlin and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Turner McLaughlin, both deceased.
She was a member of Mt. Moriah Church. She enjoyed softball, sewing and cooking, especially coconut and sweet potato pies. She loved watching talk shows and her favorite TV shows, such as "Touched By An Angel," "Smallville" and "Flip this House."
Survivors include a son, Stacey Watlington Sr. of Burlington; daughters, Je'Nell Strayhorn of the home, Shandra Richmond of Burlington and Kiana Baldwin of the home; brothers, Anthony McLaughlin (Betty) of Reidsville, Grayling McLaughlin of Yanceyville and Daryl McLaughlin of Reidsville; sisters, Vivian McLaughlin Jeffries, Pauline Williamson (Rev. Thomas), both of Reidsville, Paulette McLaughlin of Danville, Va. six grandchildren, Stacey Watlington Jr., Bianca Yolanthe, Brandon Watlington, Johnathan Watlington (Shai'Asya), Kylei Richmond and Kanilynn Coltrane; best friend, Lisha Baker of Green Level and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Howard Graves and Lacy Lawrence McLaughlin; and a son-in-law, Colby Richmond.
Public viewing will be Friday, March 21 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Mary Adelaide Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home in Burlington.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Williamson delivering the eulogy. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service with the family arriving at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times the family will receive friends at 121 James Drive, Burlington.
