Ms. Wanda Shields Edwards

DANVILLE, Va. - Ms. Wanda Shields Edwards, 59, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2013, at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Va.
She was born in Danville, Va. Jan. 2, 1954, and lived most of her life in Lynchburg, Va. where she worked as a nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray E. and Faye J. Shields.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Edwards, and their two sons, Andrew (Megan) - expecting Wanda's first grandchild March 21 - of Lynchburg, Va. and Blake (Jeannette) of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Ronald (Kim) Shields of Blairs, Va., Donald (Pam) Shields of Wilmington, N.C. and John (Kit) Shields of Gibsonville, N.C.; also her cherished nephew and nieces, Miles (Erin) Shields, Jessica (Jamie) Brown, Lindsay (John) Kocmich, Maggie (Adam) Kelly, Olivia, Morgan, Megan, and Haverly Shields; paternal grandmother, Janie O. Shields; her beloved aunts, Barbara Bouldin, Betty Fuller, Alice Sales; and uncle, Bud Jeffries; as well as her many cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Norris Funeral Services, Mount Hermon Chapel, Danville, Va., with her brothers, Pastors Donald and John Shields officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland United Methodist Church, Dry Fork, Va.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service and at other times at the home of Ronald and Kim Shields, 10881 US Hwy. 29, Blairs, Va.
Wanda will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind and compassionate friend with a contagious sense of humor.
