MEBANE, N.C. - Wilma Jean Hill, 72, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.
She was the oldest daughter of Jack and Carrie Hill of Mebane, both deceased. Jeanie was really the oldest and youngest, all in one, since she had the innocent heart of a child. She lived a life that we all should aspire to live; she never said a harsh word about anyone. She made friends of everyone she met and was always happy to say a prayer. She loved her family and friends, and she loved the Lord. Jeanie was a precious gift to her family, and will be missed by all.
Jeanie was employed for many years by Vocational Trades of Alamance, where she made many friends whom she still loved to this day. She spent the last few years in residence at Alamance Health Care in Burlington. The family thanks the staff for her care.
She is survived by sisters, Betty Robbins, Sue Self (Don) and Doris Lee Hill (Beth) and her brother, Jimmy Hill (Brenda). She loved and was loved by nine nephews and six nieces; 35 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, J.R Hill; niece, Casey Hill; and great-nephews, Dustin Deese, Cody Gauldin and Steve Foster.
The family thanks the staff of Alamance Regional Medical Center for the kindness, respect and compassion shown to Jeanie during her illness.
The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the People's Church in Mebane. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of Betty Robbins, 412 N. 2nd Street, Mebane.
