GRAHAM - Mr. Alonzo Nolan Fox, 91, of West Elm Street, Graham, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 5:30 a.m. at The Alamance House in Burlington after a long time of failing health.

He served with distinction in the Army during World War II. He was a machine gun instructor because of his excellent marksmanship. His military service was a point of great pride for him. He received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech. After his military service, he went to the University of Florida and earned a Master's Degree in Horticulture. He spent his entire working life, 46 years plus, in the citrus industry in Florida. He was a scientific farmer. He came to North Carolina in 2011 after he was unable to live fully independently. He was appreciated for his sense of humor and generous nature.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna S. Odem; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Wesley Fox; parents, Oscar Nolan Fox and Ann Godlove Fox; his first wife Martha; and his second wife Ann.
A memorial service will be held where he last lived, at the Alamance House, 2766 Grand Oaks Blvd., Burlington, N.C. 27215, on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be sent to The Church of the Holy Comforter, 320 E. Davis St., Burlington, N.C. 27215.
