GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. C. Esther Dickerson, 77, went home to her Lord and Savior Thursday, July 11, 2013.

She was born in Rockingham County to the late Lee Lawson and Fannie Roberts Lewis on Oct. 21, 1935. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV auxiliaries and a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an outspoken woman of great faith and strength. She was loving and giving, always putting others before herself.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Richard; daughters, Donna Howard of Greensboro, N.C. and Clyda Johnson (David) of Browns Summit, N.C.; grandsons, David Johnson (Jenn) and Rick Johnson (Leia); great-grandchildren, Chase Rowland, Skylar Rowland and Adam Johnson, all of Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Paul Lewis (Pat) of Reidsville, N.C.; sister, Peggie Roberson (Kenneth) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lee Lewis Jr., Mary Skidmore, Martin Lewis, Betty Miller, Ruby Finlen; and son-in-law, John Howard.
Visitation will be at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service, 306 Glenwood Avenue, Burlington, N.C., from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013.
The funeral will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, 221 Piedmont Street, Gibsonville, N.C., Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the Gibsonville City Cemetery on Springwood Avenue.
