BURLINGTON - Dudley Bartley, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the Hospice Home. He was the husband for 27 years to Katherine "Kathy" Atwell Bartley, who survives.

Dudley retired from Holt Hosiery as a plant manager. He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Dudley was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine "Kathy" Atwell Bartley of the home; brother, Bruce Bartley and wife, Mary of Hampton, Virginia; uncle, Robert Bartley and wife, Janice of Gloucester, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Sally Bowling Bartley and his sister, Trudy Ann Ayers.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Tessmann. Military honors will be provided by the 82nd Airborne Division. There will be a reception during the visitation provided by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home.
