BURLINGTON - Mr. Kenneth Lee Fuqua, 81, of 1319 Elder Way, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at the Hospice Home after several years of suffering from dementia and two weeks of failing health.

Mr. Fuqua was born in Burlington and was the beloved husband of Betty Storey Fuqua for 57 years. He was the son of the late Clarence Paige Fuqua and the late Alta Mae Stuart Fuqua.
Mr. Fuqua was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from AT&T Lucent. He was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. After his retirement, Mr. Fuqua enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, great father and wonderful paw-paw.
In addition to his wife, Betty, of the home, Mr. Fuqua is survived by his daughter, Joanna Horner and husband Jeff, of Caswell County; three sons, Paige Fuqua and wife Myra and Mark Fuqua and wife April, all of Burlington, and Rodney Fuqua of Snow Camp; five grandchildren, Christy Reel, Cameron Horner, Kenneth H. Fuqua, Carrie Davis and Victoria Canady; three great-grandchildren, Kaila Corbett, Courtney Corbett and Katelyn Reel; a sister, Shirley Howard of Burlington; and a brother, Thomas Fuqua and wife Nadine of Burlington.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Pegg. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral & Cremation Service in Burlington. At other times they will be at the residence.
